WordPress Care Plans

A WordPress care plan is hosting and maintenance with a set number of our hours included every quarter. The server, the updates, the backups and the monitoring are all handled, and on top of that you have time already paid for and set aside to spend on the site.

It is the difference between having a website that is kept safe and having one that keeps getting better. On managed hosting, every change is quoted when it comes up. On a care plan, the time is already yours.

Care plans start at $160 + GST a month and include one hour of our time each quarter.

The middle plan is $270 + GST a month with two hours a quarter, and adds a staging site, a CDN and the premium plugin licences. The top plan is $430 + GST a month with four hours a quarter and a dedicated database.

Every plan includes the hosting, the SSL certificate, nightly backups kept for 30 days, uptime monitoring and the monthly WordPress and plugin updates.

More than people expect, because we already know the site.

An hour is roughly a hero image swapped, three staff bios updated and a broken form put right. Two hours is a new page built from sections the site already has, a round of copy changes across several pages, and something made to behave properly on mobile. Four hours starts to cover two new pages, an enquiry form wired into the system you already use, and a content update on top.

There is no minimum job size, so short jobs stay short.

Every job is tracked against your balance, so where the hours have gone is never a mystery. On Lite and Easy that is a question you ask when you want the answer, and we will have it ready.

The Effortless plan builds it in. Each quarter you get a written summary of what we did, what the time went on, where the balance sits and what we would suggest doing next.

Anything that makes the site better and fits in the time.

Content and small changes, so new pages, copy edits, swapping images, changing a form. Design and layout tweaks. New features and integrations. Advice, training for someone new on your team, or a look at how the site is actually performing.

If you have nothing in mind, we do. We keep a running list for every site we look after, so we can tell you what we would spend the time on.

No minimum, and no call-out charge.

Time comes off your hours in 15 minute blocks, so a quick fix stays a quick fix rather than turning into an hour. That matters more than it sounds, because the whole point of the plan is that no job is too small to send us.

We tell you what a request is likely to take before we start it, and where your balance sits afterwards.

They roll into the next quarter, then they expire.

So hours from this quarter can be used this quarter or next, and whatever is left after that is gone. The most you can ever have sitting there is two quarters worth, which stops the balance quietly building into something nobody remembers.

The hosting is identical. The difference is the hours.

On managed WordPress hosting we run the server and do the monthly WordPress and plugin updates, and anything beyond that is quoted when you ask for it. On a care plan the same work is included, and you also have a block of our time set aside every quarter with no quote to approve first.

Most of our clients sit on managed hosting. A care plan makes sense once the site keeps needing small things done.

We move you onto a monthly plan instead.

Four hours a quarter is where care plans stop. Past that the quarterly rhythm stops making sense, so we set up a monthly arrangement with a three hour minimum, and those hours carry over month to month rather than quarter to quarter.

The site is already on our infrastructure, so it is a billing change rather than a migration. Nothing moves, nothing goes down, and there is nothing to rebuild.

Plenty of clients start on managed hosting and move to a care plan once they are tired of asking what a small change will cost.

No, and it would not be a good deal if they did.

Care plan hours are for looking after and improving a site that already exists. A new build is a project with discovery, design and testing in it, and it is quoted separately.

What the hours are very good at is the twelve months after launch, when a site needs a steady trickle of small changes rather than one big push.
