Websites for the New Zealand automotive industry

Automotive Web Design

Someone shopping for a vehicle, a part or a repairer has you open in one tab and three others alongside it, and most of that is happening on a phone. What they want to know is what you have, whether it fits, and how soon you can see them. Not a brand story.

We have built for the New Zealand automotive sector for over 15 years, and the work is nearly always the same shape. A range too big to browse comfortably. Stock or pricing that lives in another system. Branches that each need their own enquiries. And a site that has to stay quick on a two bar signal in a workshop.

What automotive web design actually means

Automotive web design is website design built for dealerships, workshops, parts suppliers and industry bodies. The site has to answer three things quickly: what you have, whether it fits, and when you can see me. Most of that happens on a phone, one-handed, often in a workshop.

Those three questions change almost every decision. A stock listing has to be filterable before it is beautiful. A parts catalogue lives or dies on whether someone can get from a vague need to the right part number. And a booking form with eleven required fields is the reason the phone rings instead, which is fine until it is seven on a Friday evening.

Our automotive work spans

  • Dealerships Stock listings, finance enquiries, test drive bookings
  • Workshops Service booking, WOF reminders, branch finders
  • Parts & accessories Fitment lookups, trade pricing, wide catalogues
  • Industry bodies Member directories, course booking, certification

Why automotive businesses pick Brontë

The six questions that come up on nearly every automotive build. The first three shape what gets built. The last three are about living with it afterwards.

Building it

Built around stock and parts, not the brand story

Someone on a dealership site wants to see what is on the yard, filtered by what they can spend. Someone on a parts site wants to know whether it fits their vehicle. We build the site around that lookup first, so the browsing works before the styling does.

Fast on a workshop phone

Your customer is often standing in a workshop or a yard on a patchy connection, not sitting at a desk. We keep the page weight down, compress every image, serve them at the size they display, and test on a throttled connection before launch.

Bookings and enquiries people actually finish

A service booking form with eleven required fields gets abandoned halfway. We keep it to what you genuinely need to schedule the job, route it straight to the person who handles it, and make it work with one thumb.

Running it

Someone answers when the site breaks

WordPress core, plugins and themes are updated on a schedule, with nightly backups and uptime monitoring behind them. When something does go wrong there is a person on the end of a phone, not a ticket number and a queue.

Hosting built for sale-day traffic

We run the hosting on AWS in Auckland or Sydney, with free SSL, nightly backups and monitoring included. It is sized for the days that matter, when a promotion lands or a new model drops and everyone arrives at once.

Your team can update it without ringing us

Adding a vehicle, changing a branch phone number or putting up a service special should not need a developer. You get a walkthrough before launch and written guides afterwards, so the day-to-day sits with your team.

Should you be talking to us?

We would rather be straight with you now than three weeks into a quote you were never going to accept.

Worth a call

  • You sell vehicles, parts, servicing or repairs Your customer compares three or four options before they call. The site has to do the convincing while you are not in the room.
  • You have a branch network, a parts catalogue or stock that changes weekly This is the work we do most. Getting someone from a vague need to the right part or the right branch is a structure problem, not a design one.
  • Your site is more than three or four years old Around then the plugin stack ages out, and patching it starts costing more than replacing it.
  • Enquiries and bookings are being rekeyed out of an inbox by hand That is a fixable problem, and usually the cheapest win on the list.

Better off with someone else

  • You want something live next week for under $2,000 A template builder will get you there faster and cheaper. We would rather say so now than pretend otherwise.
  • The site has to run on Shopify, Squarespace or Wix WordPress is the only thing we build on. That is focus rather than snobbery.
  • What you actually need is a brand and a logo We design around a brand that already exists. Creating one is somebody else's craft.
  • You want a native app or a dealer management system built from scratch Different trade entirely. We will introduce you to someone who does it properly.

You have probably seen a few of these

What fifteen years actually buys you

Automotive sites break in predictable places. A stock list nobody can filter. A parts page that ends in a phone call because the fitment detail is not on it. A booking form that quietly stopped emailing anyone six months ago.

We have met each of those enough times to design around them before they happen. The numbers beside this cover every industry we work in, not only automotive.

What an automotive website costs

Three bands, set by how much work the site has to do rather than how many pages it has. Everything is quoted on scope, so read these as starting points.

Investment What you get Typical timeframe More detail
Single location from $3,000 + GST
  • Your services, your team and enquiry forms
  • Up to around 8 pages
  • Built to the same standards as our largest projects
4 to 8 weeks See examples
Full range and branches from $8,000 + GST
  • A design built around your brand and your range
  • Stock listings, parts catalogue or branch finder
  • Online booking with enquiries routed to the right person
8 to 12 weeks See examples
Trade and integrations from $15,000 + GST
  • Trade accounts and online ordering
  • Stock feed, DMS or accounting integrations
  • Member portals and dashboards
12 weeks and up See examples

Most projects land between two of these.

Send us what you sell, how many branches you run and whether stock has to come from another system, and we will come back with a number rather than a range.

Our approach to automotive web design

Every site we build sits on the same technical floor, whatever it cost. Core Web Vitals in the green, images compressed and sized for where they actually appear, no page builder bloat, and markup that search engines and answer engines can both follow.

Speed is the thing we refuse to trade away. Your customer is often standing under a hoist or out on a yard rather than sitting at a desk on fibre, so that is the connection we build for.

We build on WordPress with structured content types and flexible sections rather than a page builder. Adding a branch, a vehicle range or a new service afterwards stays a small job instead of a rebuild.
